This is a nice tape, I really lie JB's song selection. The Gang Starr song on side a (Fuck Around, Lay Around) reminded me of how much I loved Gang Starr's Hard to Earn album back in the mid-90's and how each of the songs from that album is engrained in my memory. Immediately puts me in a time machine and back in my early adolescence,, how life felst at tht time, and how that album was my soundtrack at that time. Makes me wanna go back and listen to that album again.
Also the Flatlinerz song on Side A, I never listened to that group before, so this is the first time that I realize that obviously Busta Rhymes took (stole?) the hook on his '97 hit "Dangerous" from this Flatlinerz song from 1994 ("We can make you delirious, you should have a healthy fear of us, too much of us is dangerous). So many cool little moments this tape from a seemingly rather lesser known DJ of which I have never heard from before gives me on a cold winter night here in the Black Forest in Germany 30 years later after that tape was made. Thanks a lot, Grime!
Wow, nice that you caught JB mentionig the DJ Fashion Birthday tape. I love these little details, and I almost missed it.
